Let's talk about Bob

Bob
Pattern/ Malli: Bob (Knitty), 36 inches/S
Yarn/ Lanka: Marks & Kattens Higgins (cotton, acrylic & rayon)
Needles/ Puikot: 5 mm circs
Modifications: Ribbing on the body parts is started about 2 inches higher than indicated in the pattern.
Muutokset: Vartalo-osien ribbi on aloitettu vasta viitisen senttiä ylempänä kuin ohjeessa sanotaan.
Wearability/ Käytettävyys: Yesh!

We had some lengthy conversations with the yarn. Originally, it was supposed to become FadClassic, but that just did not work out - the yarn was too stretchy for the pattern. Beware, if you plan to knit FadClassic, use pure cotton. You have been warned. So, compromises had to be made regarding the pattern and I'm really happy with the outcome. I even had enough sense to pick a sufficiently small size as the yarn is indeed on the stretchy side. Stretch also means that my Bob is really comfortable to wear. Both pretty and comfy, not bad at all. Great, I seem to be over my bitterness for frogging Bob's predecessor.

Skinny scarf
Pattern/ Malli: Get the skinny scarf (Interweave crochet, free pattern)
Yarn/ Lanka: Idena Silkegarn (silk), 60 g
Hook/ Koukku: 4 mm
Modifications: 201 chain stitches = 1,30 m long scarf
Muutokset: 201 ketjusilmukkaa = 1,30 m huivia

I needed a quickly made scarf to go with my new spring coat. The outcome is a bit on a short side, but fulfills its purpose. The ideal scarf length for me seems to be 1,5 m. The initial chain was sufficiently long, but the shell pattern shortens the chain. Nevertheless, I was too lazy to frog when I noticed. It's always a challenge for me to correctly estimate initial settings when knitting or crocheting a scarf sideways. It's like some kind of joke - I'm good at math, but dimensions challenged.

Kiitos kommentistasi! Harmi ettei FadClassic toiminutkaan, näyttää tosi kivalta tuo malli. Kuten myös Bob!

Hi there,

I'm not sure if you check old comments, but I'll leave this on your most recent post as well because I can't find your email.

I'm knitting a baby sweater with Higgins in the same red that you knit Bob. I think I may be running out and will need another ball, but I can't find this shade anywhere. Would you be willing to send a ball to me if I indeed run out? I'd pay for the yarn and however much it costs to ship the yarn to Canada. Thanks!
